THE TEMPERANCE HOUSE
A historic inn, tavern, and scratch kitchen on South State Street since 1772.
A GATHERING PLACE SINCE 1772
Welcome to the Temp
South State Street has welcomed Bucks County locals and travelers alike for over two centuries. Originally opened by Andrew McMinn, The Temperance House has hosted everyone from Revolutionary War generals to the folk artist Edward Hicks.
While our name nods to a brief period in the 1840s when the inn served only ginger beer and lemonade, you'll be glad to know those days are long gone. Pull up a stool at our fully stocked tavern, enjoy a meal from our scratch kitchen, or spend the night in one of our 13 historic rooms — you're a part of the history here.

THE FOOD
A Scratch Kitchen, In Season
Latin and European flavors with a modern American touch — the season and the local farms lead the way.
One menu serves the whole house until 9 pm — then a smaller late-night menu runs to midnight.
